What's wrong with my boyfriend? I'd appreciate as many non racist answers as possible?

My boyfriend and I are having a baby together in June. We've been pretty happy for the most part and are both excited to be pregnant. Anyway I'm half black and half italian. Most people tell me I look Dominican or Puerto Rican, but I'm obviously not fully white. Anyway he's white and lately he's been saying stuff like "I hope our baby doesn't look too black" or "If our baby looks like white she'll be cuter." We've never talked too much about race except that once he made a racist joke and I told him I didn't like that and he never did it again. I kind of just brushed it off because I know a lot of black people who find silly racist jokes (about black people) amusing and I thought it was just a misunderstanding. Now I'm starting to think that he's got some racial issues. I just don't understand why someone like that would even be involved with a black girl. Are there any girls out there who have been with guys they discovered to be prejudice against them? Are there any guys who can admit that they are a little ignorant of other races but till date outside their race? Is it something that he can learn to be sensitive to or is this blatant racism? I know every time I see a race related question on here a million insensitive D-bags post a bunch of disgusting remarks as answers and to be honest I don't pay them attention, but I'd like to hear as many real answers as possible.
