What is the evidence based reasoning for ity being 'choice' or 'set'?

I personally think they CHOOSE it because it just doesn't benefit our species if many males were naturally gay. Does that make sense, I don't know. However, I have seen girls turn their selves from guys because they had been "heart broken"
