Well that's simple. u already have step # 1 down, you know showing is always better then telling. with that being said. Well in this situation i would recommend doing stuff that he likes. for example, you say he is a lecturer, well what are his favorite thing to talk about or study. basically to show someone that you like them, you have to invest time into what they might like. your prolly going to have to put some things in your life on hold for this. try it though
